CFH-GAG-B. Charles Stevens MALTBY, b. Sept. 7, 1874 (Geo.B.6, Seth M. 5, Isaac 4, Benj.3, Dan.2, Wm.1). m. April 15, 1898, Mary Lela BARNETT, at Indianapolis. She was of Vevay, Ind., and he was b. at Aurora, Ind. Member of the Maltby Association. He was special agent for the Ohio division of the Central Union Telephone Co., and promoted to agent for connecting companies, Ohio division. (From "Bell Telephone News.")
"Mr. Maltby is a lawyer of ability and member of the Ohio bar. This with his other qualifications and experience in the telephone business especially fits him for the new position.
On June 13th Mr. Maltby completed the fine arrangements for connecting the Mt. Sterling Telephone Co., of Mt. Sterling, Madison Co., Ohio. This company is an independently owned enterprise operating an exchange of about 800 telephones and the connection is a valuable one for the Central Union Co. and all other companies connected with the Bell System as well as the Mt. Sterling Company."
Mr. Maltby was a staunch Republican. Before me is a long arti- cle of the last night of a campaign, with Senator A.J. Beveridge as speaker. There is a column devoted to the long and elaborate parade, Capt. Charles L. Bieler, chief marshal with Charles S. Maltby as ad- jutant--these two headed the parade.
